IALA Cloud Mission & Vision

Mission: to enable safe and secure global sharing of maritime information while creating value for participants.

Vision: to connect all relevant maritime information sources with their relevant consumers and value adding service providers.

The Services

IALA Cloud Services may include all services within the e-Navigation Service portfolio.

Example Services:

  1. Near-real time AIS Stream from a given geographical region
  2. A collection of Historical AIS data from a given geographical region and time period
  3. AIS Density Plot for a given geographical region and time period based on a given AIS data collection
  4. A collection of Near Miss Incidents in a given region based on a given AIS data collection
  5. A collection of Incidents of strangely behaving vessels in a given geographical region and time period
  6. A list of (dynamic) Vessel Risk Indexes based on a given AIS data collection and point in time
  7. Sailed distance of a Vessel in a given time period based on a given AIS data collection
  8. Estimated TOA for i given vessel based on a fancy algorithm
  9. Estimated CO2, NOX and SOX emissions for a given vessel in a given time period
  10. Navigational Warnings from a given geographical region
  11. Notices to Mariners from a given source
  12. METOC forecast for a given geographical point and point in time
  13. No-Go areas in a given geographical region and time period for a given vessel

Basic Principles

  1. All members are Service Providers as well as Service Consumers
  2. Each member (data owner) determines the destiny of his data .e. who can consume his services
  3. A Service Broker publishes all available services to all members
  4. A Security Broker ensures that members can only access services they are entitled to
  5. All established connections are logged and can be audited.

The IALA Cloud

  1. connects information sources to agreed information consumers safely and securely
  2. creates value by providing access to global maritime data and associated value adding services
  3. includes appropriate information security measures
  4. operates across political boundaries
  5. is capable of sharing a wide range of data types
  6. is a gateway between its members and value added services
  7. is based on a highly decentralized technical framework
  8. resides in the Amazon Cloud
  9. is based on Open Source software
  10. is capable of including thousands of participating nodes
  11. is glued together by only a handful of centralized components
  12. will be paid for by the participants
  13. costs are covered through contributions from all participants
